10+ Best Dinner and lunch cruises around the world
Did you know that some of the best cities in the world have a dining cruise option to choose from? These cruises range from luxurious yachts to private charters to themed options and some even come with shows or a private meal for you and your partner?
There are so many to choose from but listing the ones that I have personally tried and tested around the world. If you know of more dining cruises, do let me know in the comments.
Paris: Seine River Cruises
I was in my favorite city again over the holidays and one of the things that I have done multiple times is to do one of the Paris dinner cruises. There are so many options to choose from including a 3 course lunch cruise along the river Seine.
It is one of the best ways to see the highlights of the city (sans the traffic of course) in a luxury boat accompanied by some of that delicious French cuisine and French wine.
Nothing can be more romantic to do it in the city of love surrounded by some stunning sights like Eiffel Tower, Louvre and Notre Dame as you cruise up and down the river. You can customise it according to your preferences when you are looking for dinner cruises in Paris.
New York: Manhattan River Cruises
If you are looking for a sophisticated night out on the Manhattan river/ East Rivers accompanied by dinner on a cruise and a skyline to die for, then there are so many New York city dinner cruises to choose from.
Some come with an all inclusive food and drinks package or you can opt to party with your friends late into the night.
And as you cruise along some marvels like the Empire State building, One World trade center or the many bridges like the Brooklyn bridge or Manhattan bridge as you listen to some lovely tunes, you will fall in love with New York all over again.
Istanbul: Bosphorous Strait Cruise
If you ask me to list one of my top dinner cruise options, then this dinner voyage on the Bosphorous strait will definitely on my list.
It is a must do when you visit Istanbul and you will be mesmerised by both the European and Asian sides of the city including sights like Dolmabahce Palace, Ortakoy Mosque, the Bosphorous bridge and so much more.
This is accompanied by some great Turkish food. Only advice here is to go with a cruise that has good vegetarian options.
But the real fun starts once dinner is done and it is followed by hours of Turkish dance performances ranging from Belly dances to the Whirling Dervishes. And the night ends with a DJ night playing some famous songs from around the world.
Dubai: Dhow Cruise Tour
When I first visited Dubai as an adult, my sister took us to the Marina and it turned out to be one of my favorite places to visit especially for a nice quiet dinner on a boat.
This dining experience aboard a Yacht or a traditional Dhow can make you feel like you belong to the rich life of the Dubai millionaires with some panoramic views of the Dubai Marina, Ain Dubai and Dubai harbour.
Most Dubai dinner cruises come with a buffet cruise ship dinner with unlimited options along with some live music and performances that you and your partner can dance to. This can be also done as a sunset cruise where you can gaze at the Dubai skyline during sunset.
Kochi: Arabian sea adventures
One of my earliest city cruise experience has to be in the city I was born in, Kochi while I was staying there.
It was a private event but it was definitely one of the most family-friendly dinner cruises I have been on. You can actually rent a 3 floor cruise ship for your private event while it takes you off the coast of Kochi into the Arabian sea.
This one is unique because it combines some stunning city views with an open sea experience accompanied by some great South Indian food and live performances making it a truly fine dining experience.
El Nido: Private Dinner Cruise Options
Last year, I spent two incredible weeks in one of my favorite countries, the Philippines. And one of my favorite days was when I booked a private catamaran tour in El Nido.
This included sailing in some of the most gorgeous places in the world, visiting island hopping including having lunch on a private island which very few people get to visit, snorkelling in some of the clearest waters I have ever seen, interacting with some friendly locals and ending the day by dancing to the tunes of famous songs with strangers from all around the world.
And the sunset was just the cherry on the top. This was luxury redefined and I wish everyone who go to El Nido get a chance to experience this at least once in their lifetime.
Bangkok: Chao Phraya River cruise
One of the most famous things to do in Bangkok is to take a Bangkok dinner cruise down the Chao Phraya River and marvel at some of Bangkok’s iconic landmarks like Temple of Dawn, the Royal Grand Palace and the Rama VIII Bridge.
This is definitely one of the most luxurious and scenic dinner cruises. You get to see a local Thai dance performance followed by a buffet dinner and unlimited alcohol.
Some of these cruises also include a cabaret show followed by a live DJ and lots of music.
Sydney: Harbour Cruises
Sydney harbour cruises are one of the best ways to see the city of Sydney and these are best done when done on a historic paddle wheeler.
As you cruise along the harbour in one of your dinner harbour cruises in Sydney, you are treated to a 3 course fancy dinner in the comfort of air conditioned boats.
On this cruise, you will sail past Taronga Zoo and Luna Park before heading back to Darling Harbour.
London: Thames river cruise
I did this one a really long time ago but one of the best advantages of doing it in the Thames river is that you can choose between brunch, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner cruises in London.
My favorite has to be the quintessential London tour; the Afternoon tea experience complete with some delicious tea, scones, desserts and a selection of sandwiches.
You get to see many London landmarks like the Shard, the London Eye, the Houses of Parliament and so much more on your afternoon tea cruise.
If you choose the dinner cruise, then this is accompanied by some live dancing too as you glide past Westminster Abbey.
Mauritius: Barbeque lunch cruise
This is one of the most popular lunch cruises to do in Mauritius. Take a cruise to Ile Aux Cerfs and this is usually accompanied by a barbecue lunch.
Once you board the cruise, you are taken to the island of Ile Aux cerfs where you can choose from a range of adventurous activities like Parasailing to walking underwater in the sea. I ended up doing Parasailing here and loved it.
This is followed by a Barbecue Creole lunch on the boat followed by a DJ who plays some famous English as well as French/Mauritian songs to which we can dance to our heart’s content.
Amsterdam: Pizza cruise / Dutch snacks
The canals of Amsterdam tell many stories and that is why a canal cruise in Amsterdam is a must do if you love dining cruises.
And the funnest part is that in addition to cruising along the canals, many of these food cruises come with pizzas or with Dutch snacks. This combination with Pizza makes this one of the most unique dinner cruise experiences.
On your dinner cruise, pass the canals all the way to the Amstel river and pass many iconic sites like Anne Frank House, Dancing houses of Amsterdam, Prinsengracht, Seven Province houses and so much more.
Budapest: Danube River Cruise
If you are looking for one of the most romantic dinner experiences, then the cruise on the Danube river in Budapest has to be on your list.
Budapest is a beautiful city at night and when you see it from a cruise on the river accompanied by a candlelit dinner and relaxing live music, it makes Budapest a difficult city to forget.
It is also extremely affordable compared to other city cruises mentioned in this list and should be on your list for dinner river cruises.
You also get to see famous Budapest spots like Buda Castle, the grand Statue of Liberty, and the Citadella.
I would rate this as one of the best dinner cruises for couples.
Once your cruise is done, don’t forget to visit Shoes on the Danube.
