As someone who travels for half a year, every year, I have become a packing expert when it comes to packing must have travel essentials for every trip.
I take less than 15-30 mins to pack these days. Even for longer trips. Because I have a checklist that I follow.
In this post, I write about all the essentials I use for travelling and the ones that I don’t leave home without.
Obviously, some trips may require additional travel essentials based on the season and other factors.

20+ International Travel Essentials You Need to Pack
This checklist is prepared after years of travelling experience and hopefully, I do not forget to include all of them.
In case, I forget to carry something, I always use a Vpn apk to browse the shopping websites of the place I am visiting. This ensures that I get the best price for that place even though I am not from there.
We will split this into various categories for ease while preparing your packing checklist.
Luggage
I have many pieces of luggage and depending on the type of the trip, I alternate between all of them.
I am mostly a suitcase gal since I am someone who loves affordable luxury.
I also love to shop when I am travelling and I almost never have enough luggage space.

Trolley Bags for Check In and cabin luggage
I have a couple of them and I always alternate between them when I am travelling. Trolley bags are essentials for travelling definitely.
I prefer hard shell trolley bags and I currently have two which can fit up to 30 kgs. One in the size of (71*46*30 cm) and one slightly bigger than that. One is from American tourister while the other one is from Skybags
I also have a Medium sized one for my shorter trips and for trips inside India. I recently got this from South Korea since my older medium sized one was in taters and I had to replace it.
It is not a well known brand but I loved how lightweight it is and it comes in a nice pastel blue shade too. Very stylish.
I also like using Samsonite for my Trolley bags.
My smaller check in trolley bags are both from Nasher Miles. One that fits Ryan Air specifications while another which fits other international flight carriers.
Bagpacks
For my solo trips, I actually prefer carrying one large suitcase and one backpack. Again, the size of the suitcase and the size of the bagpack varies depending on the duration of the trip.
I currently have two bagpacks of different sizes. One is an Osprey 40L one while I got my smaller laptop bag pack from Rains in Norway.
If you are someone who travels with a lot of photography gear, then investing in a good photography bagpack is also a good idea.
I also have a non-branded cloth bagpack that I use when I go for day hikes.
Handbags
I don’t overcomplicate this and usually end up carrying one day bag and one clutch for most of my trips.
Handbags are definitely one of the most crucial female travel essentials.
I don’t carry my expensive branded handbags in Europe and I usually prefer Uniqlo’s cross body sling bags for my day bags when I am travelling.
A cross body sling bag is the holy grail when it comes to Europe travel essentials.
Packing cubes for organisation
I don’t go anywhere without my packing cubes and it has helped me organise my stuff when I am travelling.
I currently have an inexpensive one that Tharun got off Amazon. It is definitely one of my favorites and have lasted over so many years.
I use one for my pants, one for my tops, one for my thermals or beach wear depending on the season, one for my dresses, another one for my inner garments.
Packing cubes definitely help saves space when you are travelling.
Toiletries Bag
I like my makeup, skincare and haircare to be in an organized compartment when I am travelling.
I have a toiletries bag I got from Bag Smart and I love how sleek and efficient it is. It is quite big and fits everything in a single bag.
It also has a separate pouch for my jewellery and hence having one is another crucial travel essentials for women.
Miscellaneous Luggage
In addition, I also carry few waterproof pouches for stuff like medicines.
I am not a fan of Duffel bags and I always prefer ones with wheels. But Tharun loves travelling with duffel bags and hence we do carry them when he joins me for a trip.
I also have a beach bag when I am travelling to beach destinations. Additionally, I also have a 40l dry bag that I got from Decathlon when I am going swimming.
I also carry laundry bags for my dirty clothes.
I have mini silicone tubes to carry stuff like my shower gels, shampoos.
Electronics
In today’s digital world, it is impossible to travel without electronics and these are some of the electronics that are always there as part of my travelling essentials checklist.
Travel Adapters
I travel to at least 8-10 countries every year and I don’t go anywhere without a travel adapter. Another travel+essentials that should not be missed.
I actually carry two since I am always scared of misplacing one and then ending without a charging option when I am in a new country.
Always check the voltage specifications of the country you are visiting too. The adapters which help in offsetting voltage issues in some countries should be considered.
Cube Extension Box
I also carry a compact cube shaped extension box / board since I always have too many devices to charge at the end of the day.
These ones are quite compact and can fit almost everywhere.
Charging cables
I carry multiple charging cables since each of the devices require a different type of charger.
For e.g different chargers for the Mac laptop, iphone, DSLR and my Insta360.
Power Bank and Batteries
I am always using my phone which means that the charge in my iphone doesn’t last for more than a few hours every day when I am travelling.
I have been carrying a power bank for almost 10-15 years now and I don’t go anywhere without them.
I carry extra batteries for all my devices, especially my cameras.
Headphones
I love listening to music. Especially on flights and bus journeys and hence I always have my Earpods with me.
I don’t like the huge noise cancelling ones because they kind of hurt my ears. I definitely prefer the smaller ones.
Laptop and Mobiles
Since I am on the road for half a year, I always carry a laptop with me. I love my MacBook Air since it is so lightweight and helps me to carry it almost everywhere.
I use an IPhone pro max latest model and this is what I use on a daily basis. This in my opinion is one of the most essential travel item. Since it helps me in booking things on the go and keep me connected.
I also keep a cheap backup phone when I am travelling solo. This is in case of emergencies.
Cameras
I carry my DSLR everywhere. Currently I own a Sony ZV E10 which helps me shoot both pictures and videos.
I also carry an Insta360 x 5 when I go for my beach trips.
I do have a Gimbal but I rarely carry it.
Hard disk and SD cards
Since my camera is an essential during all my trips, I carry couple of SD cards to shoot.
I also carry one of my hard disks in case I need to transfer data from the SD cards.

I am very particular about the products I use and hence only carry the ones that I use back home.

I was a huge fan of Olay till recently. But during my recent trip to South Korea, I did a skin analysis and I have started using the products that were recommended to me.
I have started using a Torriden moisturiser and Torriden Dive in serum and I can already see a huge difference to my face then. The moisturiser comes in both cream and spray forms.
I use a Biore UV sunscreen. This is a Japanese brand and I love how it doesn’t leave a White cast and protects me from excessive tanning when I am travelling.
I also use a Torriden face wash. I also carry a shaving gel for my face. I have Pcos and hence I have hair growth. Especially on my chin and Moustache.
I use Mac products for my foundation, concealer, eyeliner, eye shadows, lipsticks etc.
I have a tiny blush and face set from Dior too which I use for my evenings out.
I do carry a soap just in case. But I mostly use shower gels at hotels.
Haircare
My shampoo and conditioner is from Systems Professional and this is something I carry with me during all my trips.
I do use Ordinary hair serum and I always have coconut oil too with me.
Miscellaneous grooming essentials for overseas travel
I also carry Bath and Body works creams and body mist for daily use.
Obviously I also carry dental toiletries like brush, toothpaste, Dental floss and toothpicks.
You can also find random stuff like Mosquito repellent, Vaseline, Aloe Vera Gel, Safety pins, Handplast, hair rubber bands, razors, sponge, cotton wipes, earbud, face masks in my grooming essentials.
I always carry one perfume for the entire trip and I usually choose one from my collection and take that along.
